BoneXpert – the most widespread AI radiology software in the Netherlands

The Diagnostic Image Analysis Group (DIAG) at Radboud University Medical Center in the Netherlands has created the site AI for Radiology listing 100 CE-marked, machine learning-based softwares for clinical use in radiology.

As part of this work, the group also inquired radiology departments in the Netherlands about their use of AI software – they found that BoneXpert is the most widely used such software, according to Kicky van Leeuwen, PhD candidate from Radboud Univ.

Reduced use of bone age during Covid-19

BoneXpert use dropped to 28% of the normal level in the period 23 March – 19 April. The following four weeks it rose to 45% of the normal level.

BoneXpert in Chile

Clínica Alemana in Santiago, Chile, has been a customer of Visiana since 2018, performing 5900 BoneXpert analyses per year. The clinic took initiative to perform an independent validation study of BoneXpert’s GP bone age assessment, and this was published in Revista chilena de pediatría:

BoneXpert has been introduced in four new countries by a purchase from these institutions:

CHU Toulouse, France
Istituto Giannina Gaslini, Genova, Italy
Regency Hospital, Kanpur, India

There are now in total 80 hospitals using BoneXpert for at least 100 analyses per year.
